These three do not each carry a post, so here they are together. They serve genuinely different people and the prices are nothing alike, which is the main thing worth knowing before you spend.
SoundCloud — for music outside the release cycle
SoundCloud plays cost ₦1,563 per 1,000 on Nitro today, which puts them within touching distance of Audiomack and makes them the second-cheapest music promotion we carry.
That matters because SoundCloud holds a kind of music the other platforms handle badly: DJ mixes, alté, amapiano edits, unreleased snippets, remixes that will never clear a sample, the two-minute idea you want three hundred people to hear. Things without a distributor behind them.
If you make that music, SoundCloud is your primary platform and you should treat it like one. If you make radio Afrobeats with a distributor and a release date, SoundCloud is a side door and the money belongs on Audiomack.
Followers and likes are expensive by comparison — ₦74,353 and ₦71,379 per 1,000 — because they require real accounts doing real things. Buy plays. Earn the rest.
Mixcloud — for DJs, and almost nobody else
Mixcloud exists for long-form: radio shows, DJ sets, mixes with tracklists and licensing handled. Plays are ₦4,180 per 1,000, followers and likes ₦14,861 per 1,000.
If you are a DJ building a name, Mixcloud is where a two-hour set can live without being taken down, and a set with plays gets picked up by the people who book DJs. If you are an artist with singles, Mixcloud will do nothing for you. It is not a worse SoundCloud; it is a different thing.
The useful move for a Nigerian DJ is a monthly show, consistently uploaded, with a small play budget behind each one. Consistency reads as a residency. One mix with 20,000 plays reads as a purchase.
Tidal — the expensive completion platform
Tidal is the priciest of the three by a distance:
- Plays — ₦21,263 per 1,000
- Followers — ₦44,724 per 1,000
- Listeners — ₦42,488 per 1,000
Fifteen times SoundCloud for plays. There is no version of Tidal promotion that is good value in the way Audiomack is.
So why carry it? Because Tidal's audience skews toward people who pay for music and care about audio quality, and because a profile with numbers on Tidal as well as everywhere else reads as a career rather than a campaign. If you are building a case for a label, a distributor, or a manager, the breadth is the argument.
If you are trying to be heard, spend elsewhere.
Apple Music and Deezer, briefly
They belong in the same conversation. Apple Music plays run ₦22,961 to ₦31,041 per 1,000 — Tidal money. Deezer followers are ₦4,571 per 1,000 and likes ₦3,194, which is cheap, but Deezer's African audience is thin enough that the cheapness is not the point.
Both are completion platforms. Neither is where a song breaks. We cover them here.
How to decide in one paragraph
Make mixes or music without a distributor → SoundCloud. DJ with a show → Mixcloud. Building a case for the industry and already moving elsewhere → Tidal, in small amounts. Trying to be heard at all → none of these, go to Audiomack.
